Work Package

Purpose: A Work Package is a set of instructions to perform/manage about one or more required products. It is designed by Project Manager and performed by a Team Manager.

Should contain:

  • Team or person authorized: (e.g. A Team Manager)
  • Description (Over package)
  • Product Description(s): (Single out each product as appropriate)
  • People, processes, partners, products, procedures, policies, plans to be used: (All resources and capabilities)
  • Interfaces to be satisfied by the completed product: (In relation to other packages, products)
  • Interfaces to be maintained during the work (Dependencies)
  • Configuration management requirements (Based on CIs)
  • Stage Plan extract (Extract from Project Plan with sliced up tolerances)
  • Resources: (Joint agreement on effort, cost, time)
  • Any constraints to be observed: (Standards, compliances)
  • Quality-checking arrangements: (When, what, how will be checked)
  • Reporting arrangements: Mini communication plan for Team Manager (RACI based)
  • Problem handling and escalation: (Identify as early as possible and escalation procedure must be followed)
  • Sign-off requirements (For the project manager to actually accept completed package)
  • Acceptance by Team Manager: Accept of Work Package
  • Date
