Closing a Project (CP)

Purpose & Description

  • This process ensures a controlled end of a project
  • This process is normally triggered by CS, but it can also be triggered by DP
  • The Project Manager cannot trigger the process without direct approval from the Project Board

Objectives

  • To assure the Project Board that the objectives of the project have been met, as according to the Project Brief
  • To provide and deliver relevant documentation
  • To plan for post-project reviews
  • To archive project files as appropriate

  • Project Plan
  • Business Case
  • All project logs

Outputs

  • End Project Report
  • Lessons Learned Report
  • Follow-on Action Recommendations
  • Post-Project Review Plan

Hints and Tips

  • Document as appropriate to the project
  • Make sure the Project Documentation, particularly the Lessons Learned Report, is easily available for future projects
