Terminology

  • SACM - Abbrev. for Service Asset and Configuration Management
  • CI - Configuration items are controlled, measured, manged by configuration management
  • CMDB - Configuration Management Database stores all managed information on all defined CIs
  • Baseline - Basic configuration
  • CMS - Configuration Management System, under which CMDB is a part
  • Presentation layer - A way of presenting certain information to different groups
  • DML - Definiteve Media Library is a secure store where all authorized and approved and up to date (live) versions of media CIs are stored
  • Configuration baseline - Taken for later comparison
  • Snapshot - A status of a CI at athat given time. Snapshots are not updated.
  • SKMS - Service Knowledge Management System
